Ride Tall!

Covered Arena

The new building which includes a tack shed, hay storage area, kitchen/lounge and toilets will be started any week now. Finalised drawings have gone to the council for a building permit. The new arena surface has been chosen and other details of the arena are being finalised with the committee.

Newsflash! WE HAVE RESOURCE CONSENT!!! YAY!

We do not currently have an arena to ride in. We use a section of a grass paddock with some sand on it, which is uneven and becomes wet and boggy when it rains. When it rains (which happens a lot in Cambridge!) we have to cancel our classes. During this wet  2009 winter semester we canceled all but two of our riding days.

Our riding area

So our project is to build a covered arena!

Step 1 is to install a 40x60m riding arena. We are currently awaiting resource consent for this.  Step 2 is to then cover the arena with a steel roof 5m high.

This will give us an all-weather, even surface to ride on, and will mean that we can ride even when the weather is wet. This will be an asset for the community and will ensure RDA Cambridge can continue providing therapeutic riding classes for the next 25 years.
